Google+ (sign in) is Going Away!

21st December 2018

(Yup, no kiddin)

It's official! We have just received offical notice yesterday that Google is pulling the plug on Google+ (Google Plus). As such, we will (very) soon no longer be able to sign you in via Google+.

After a security gap was discovered earlier this year, Google decided to sunset the consumer version of their Google social network. Since then, a subsequent potential "data leak" (of Google+ user information) discovered in October has Google bringing forward their sunset timeline by a subsequent 4 months to April 2019. Yesterday, we learnt from their website that "Google+ APIs will be shut down on March 7, 2019. This includes Google+ Sign-in. Google+ integrations for web and mobile apps will also cease to function March 7, 2019. This will be a progressive shutdown, with intermittent failures starting as early as January 28, 2019." Good grief!

Immediate Action is required if you are currently using Google (single-click) sign-in to Travaa (website and/or mobile app). By performing the following steps (which should take you under 5 minutes), you ensure that you have a legitimate email address for continued access your travel itineraries on Travaa.

  1. Sign-in to Travaa website ( via your Google account (if not already).
  2. Click on your Travaa user icon to open up your profile.
  3. Under PRIVATE SETTINGS:  check that your email address is correct, and (optionally) create a simple username you can easily remember, then hit SAVE.
  4. Sign-out of Travaa.
  5. Begin to sign-in (again, or select "Plan Trip"), but this time click "forgot password?
  6. You will be prompted to enter your email address. Do so and complete the process to set up a password for your account.
  7. That's it, you can now also sign in to Travaa via email/username and a password. All your current trips will be there.
  8. If you are using the Travaa phone app, simply sign out from the app and sign back in using your email/username and password.

We will be taking down sign-ups via Google accounts shortly, and in the coming weeks, we will also be removing the option to sign-in via Google - as Google takes down their Google+ platform.

This major change has been sprung on us rather abruptly.

Sorry for the short notice .. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Happy Travels and Merry Holidays!
